Seattle Times journalists' tweets from May Day 2014

May Day festivities started at about 3 p.m. with peaceful marches and events for immigrant rights, minimum-wage reform and other social justice issues. Demonstrators made their way through parts of downtown and Capitol Hill without much incident.

As the sun went down, things grew tense. Protesters circled areas of Capitol Hill and climbed atop or otherwise damaged nearby cars. Police have made several arrests and used pepper spray on people who were throwing things.
